

Carnelius D. Gilder, Ed.D, is an educator, transformational leader, and an access advocate who serves as the Superintendent of Schools for West Sabine Independent School District, a thriving rural district deep in the heart of the Piney Woods of East Texas. He has led WSISD as superintendent since December 2020.
Dr. Gilder is best known as a voice and a visionary. Through his tenure as superintendent, Carnelius has strived for equity within the district and across the state.

Dr. Carnelius D. Gilder is the founder and Chief Executive of Champion Development and Growth Company which specializes in individual and team building, leadership, coaching, and speaking.
Carnelius has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication, a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership all from Sam Houston State University. Carnelius also holds certifications as a Trainer, Teacher, Coach, and Speaker with The John Maxwell Team; and English Language Arts & Reading, Principal, and Superintendent with SBEC (Texas).
Carnelius has leadership experience in schools as Superintendent, Principal, Special Programs Coordinator, and Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction. He also serves as a licensed Associate Minister.
